Early in my ministry, I was blessed to shepherd churches that had a Back Home Day or Homecoming Sunday. These Sundays were filled with food, fellowship, and fierce worship. Faithful worship consisting of praying, preaching, singing, and believing in the power of Christ Jesus.

Family and Friends come from near and far to bring glory to God, honor faith and family; while reflecting on the firm foundation of grace, faith and mercy which is rooted in their home church. I can see the elders of the church praying, singing, frying fish, baking cakes, smiling, and
rejoicing in the Lord.

That which I loved the most was the invitation to ALL. Yes, everyone is invited to come experience the power of the Holy Spirit at work. That evening, at sundown, they brought to him all who were sick or possessed with demons. And the whole city was gathered around the door.
And he cured many who were sick with various diseases and cast out many demons; and he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him. (Mark 1:32-34)

May our whole city gather around our doors to touch the hand of Jesus. We all shall encounter power of God’s saving, forgiving, and healing grace. As disciples, let us invite persons to be a part of the Homecoming. A day of thanksgiving and service to the Lord. Welcome, Back Home!
